In 2007, a chance to travel to Australia (biz-trip) came along...wow. Certainly was over taken by the sheer breadth of culture and vitality found in the city of Brisbane (Brizzy or Briz-Vegas to the locals). Of course went to a few clubs and venues that support a thriving music scene. If there you must go (by local ferry) to the Brisbane Story Bridge Jazz club out on (where else) Kangaroo Point.
So as the trip unfolded, there on
Live Earth Day 7.7.07 (7 is my lucky number) found myself watching the stream from Sydney and yes...Missy Higgins. There are times in your life where certain moments strike a resonating chord within. This was one of those times.
Soon afterwards back in the states with a new CD in hand, introduced Tilly Jam to her work. We have been covering many compositions off 'On A Clear Night' ever since. This CD is one of the most passionate works of art to be shared by anyone on the planet.
Members of Tilly Jam have now been to both Portland shows in 2008 and Mussy Huggins (dubbed by her keyboard player from New Zealand) has shared an energy that is as soulful, and as brilliant as the country she hails from.
